There was the sparkling sensuousness of melted caramel with beauteous colors protruding from sun beat particles of liquid. The fur of a golden retriever with a silly, friendly and soft gaze stood in a kennel among street dogs with shaggy fur drenched in drain water and matted with dirt.
He was perched there, pensive and pitiful—full of emotional scrumptiousness. The eye, the heart, the hand, the mouth, drawn to the muscles in his chest, so relaxed but sculptured masterfully.
But no bone and no whistle could avert his forward stare into oblivion. His empty focus was complex for he was not looking at anything but seemed to be thinking of everything.
For a second, there was a glance in my direction that glimmered and shook my soul but in a moment refocused and lost.
Always at his side was a female pit-bull, who hardly complimented the gorgeous air about him. His posture seemed to be weakened by her presence and his tail’s motion lagged.
The “retriever” is actually guy called Salvatore and his girlfriend’s name is Karina. He is a tremendously good looking Italian celebrity—who stands out above all of people that surround him.
“Let’s not go as yet, I need to take him in a little longer,” I told my Italian friend Rafael who was driving me home from the night club where I first saw Salvatore. “I have to talk to him.”
“No Karina she kill you,” he warned. “When she went in bathroom one time Salvatore talk to a girl and Karina…….” He made a fist and did an intimidating impersonation of Mohammed Ali.
“So what, I’m ten times her size and strength, I can take her,” I recited with confidence.
“You big, she small, is nothing, she will eat you, she like pit-bull,” he said with serious desperation to make me understand the danger I would be in.
I aquiesced to the Italian woman who Rafael said is born to fight like every other Italian woman—hot blooded, protective and quick tempered.
Salvatore wants to fetch my ball; I’ve seen him peek out the side of his droopy eyes while the pit-bull lapsed on guard momentarily.
Down boy! I’m only 21 years old. I don’t want to die so soon.
