Have you ever had the experience in going into a place in which they talk a totally different language than yours? Maybe in this case the experts are Chinese people. I constantly see them going into countries totally different from their own culture, and being able to manage their language barriers. In this case, I want to convey my personal experience exploring the stores inUrbino, Italy. Some friends from the Urbino program and I entered a gelato [Italian ice cream] store. After all my friends got their gelato, I approached the girl that was attending the store askig, “Scusi, parla, español?” To my surprise she instantly replied with a big smile on her face saying, “claro que si hablo español” (of course I speak spanish). I felt really honored that someone spoke my native language in a foreign country. For me to have that experience is more like a privilege than an expectation. I believe that is the obligation of the person that visits the other country to learn the language of that country. Maybe you think differently. Therefore, I conclude by asking, who is the one that is supposed to learn the other language?

On the other hand, you seemed to have brightened the day of the young woman in the gelato shop
